Opening comments and reflections will be provided by Rabbi Roli Matalon of B’nai Jeshurun; Eric Meyers, Bernice & Morton Lerner Professor of Center for Jewish Studies and Religion and Director, Center for Jewish Studies at Duke University; Robin Kirk, executive director of the Duke Human Rights Center; Patrick Stawski, Human Rights Archivist at Duke University Libraries; and Samuel Moyn, Professor of History at Columbia University.
Rabbi Marshall T. Meyer was an ordinary man whose extraordinary convictions, faith, and impetuous personality impelled him to become one of the most important human rights activists during Argentina’s Dirty War (1976-1983). This traveling exhibition draws on the rich and powerful collection of documents donated by the Meyer family to Duke University’s Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library.
The exhibition may be viewed Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am until 7:30 pm. The reception is cosponsored by The Duke University Libraries, the Duke Human Rights Center, the Duke Center for Jewish Studies, and the Jewish Theological Seminary.
