The Pauli Murray Project is an organization dedicated to raising awareness of the Human Rights history of the Durham area through the legacy of Pauli Murray. As a visionary scholar, poet, civil and human rights activist Pauli Murray is an example for the community. Pauli Murray was a member of the LGBTQ community, the first female African American Episcopal Priest and Doctorate of Laws in America as well as being a local Durhamite.
This Friday as a celebration of the 100th anniversary of her birth we will be hosting an event on the Bryan Center Plaza where there will be t-shirts, a mural to paint, birthday cake and an opportunity to engage with the incredible spirit of this woman and her call to do what is right. Please come along, engage with the Project, learn a little bit more about the legacy of the local community but most of all have fun!
