“Frontline and Foot Soldiers”: Celebrating Everyone’s Participation in Movement Building
Event Navigation

“Frontline and Foot Soldiers”: Celebrating Everyone’s Participation in Movement Building is the third session of the “Bridging the Gap: Generations of Human Rights Activism”, an intergenerational film and community dialogue series presented by the Pauli Murray Project. This film/conversation series brings efforts such as #BlackLivesMatters, Moral Mondays, and other recent social justice actions in conversation with the history of American civil and human rights activism. Using clips from 5 films: The Abolitionists, Slavery by Another Name, Freedom Riders, The Loving Story and Freedom Summer, to provoke our conversation, we will as Pauli Murray suggests, “pass on the best traditions of each generation of fighters to the next.”
Session 3: “Frontline and Foot Soldiers”: Celebrating Everyone’s Participation in Movement Building will feature film clips from Freedom Summer & The Abolitionists. The event is free and open to all.
The series is a part of a national effort: Created Equal: America’s Civil Rights Struggle and is made possible through a major grant from the National Endowment for the Human ties, as part of its Bridging Cultures Initiative, in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
