Event Navigation
Date
September 26, 2013 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

John Hare, Noah Porter Professor of Philosophical Theology at Yale University, will deliver a lecture titled, “Three Arguments for the Dependence of Morality Upon Religion.” His paper argues that we depend on Providence for the belief that morality is consistent with happiness, Grace for the belief that we can be morally good given our propensity for evil, and Justification as a reason not based on self-interest for why we should be morally good and, in particular, respect human dignity.
