Weaving a Net of Accountability: Taking on Extraordinary Rendition at the State and Regional Level

This public conference explores how to achieve accountability for extraordinary rendition in North Carolina and at the regional level. Bisher al-Rawi, a former Guantanamo detainee and torture survivor, will speak via video from London.

Panel 1: North Carolina’s Role in the “Global Spider Web – Panelists on North Carolina’s role in the “global spider web” of extraordinary rendition to torture. Panelists include Gavin Simpson and Christina Cowger.

Panel 2: The Legal Context of Extraordinary Rendition and Outlook for Restorative Justice – Panelists on the legal framework of extraordinary rendition and the outlook for restorative justice. Panelists include Paula Kweskin, Taiyabba Qureshi, Marianne Twu, Margaret Satterthwaite, Steven Watt, and Steven Edelstein.
