Attending the Climate Change and Health Conference allowed me to understand the significance of pragmatism, especially in trying to curb the effects of climate change and helping disenfranchised communities. I watched climate change opponents from Jimmy Carter, the 39th President, to Jerry Taylor, the president of Niskanen Center, a Libertarian Think Tank. Before arriving at the Carter Center I was unsure about how exactly this conference would play out but after attending, the plethora of information I was given will be invaluable for me as I conduct my own research this summer in Texas. Catherine Flowers stole the show with her argument on closer connection with the communities experiencing the effects of climate change and I am thankful for her inviting me to this wonderful event.
